Help With The Abstract

First we would suggest a review of the article on abstracts.

As a parent or relative, you are the student's first science fair project mentor.  So, even if your child has now reached high school, and knows more about this topic than you ever knew, you can still help by carefully reading the abstract.  Is it written so you understand?  Are the typos or misspelled words corrected?  Is grammar correct? Advise him/her on how to make all these answers “YES”!

A common misconception is that the student can't have help. But, if you notice, in all magazines they list the Editor.  All professional writers have their material reviewed by editors before being published.  University students studying for Doctoral Degrees do their research with guidance from a team of advisers.  So, yes, make them do the work, but advise and help along the way.
