High School General Advice

If this is a first time project for you please read the advice given to the middle school student, everything there applies to you as well.

Some of you are in research classes, some are doing your project at home or school, and some are doing them in an institutional research laboratory.  Some have no adviser or mentor, and some are supervised in the laboratory.  Bottom line is you must do the project, and while high tech sophistication may be impressive, if the problem is trivial or the approach to the science or engineering are shoddy, the judges will not be impressed.

You can have the best looking project board in the TCC and fail to impress the judges if your science or engineering is not based on sound principles.  You might take a quick read of the Elements of Science and Engineering, just to remind you of the right approaches.

Sometimes you have no choice but to bring equipment or models to the SARSEF and exhibit them during judging.  Be cautious about what you leave after judging, we have thousand of student, K-12 coming through here on Wednesday through Friday.  We do police, but cannot guarantee that your exhibit will not be touched by curious visitors, and small valuables should not be left after judging.
